Morning Glory, Beautyfull?

My place we don't have to plant it, but it grows everywhere, eazy, any home fence, no seeding needed at all.

Morning glories are one of the plants that want world domination and are not afraid to go for it. They seed themselves almost into the pest catagory, coming up everywhere . I pull them out by the fistfuls and still have plenty each year.

I didn't say I didn't love them--I do. There is no plant more beautiful than a heavenly blue morning glory. That is why I don't pull them ALL out.
Reply:I agree, they are lovely. If they grow where you don't want them just rip them out. I love to see them pop up here and there, perhaps growing up a sunflower stalk or around the branches of a rose.


You just have to watch out for the weed "bindweed' which does look like a morning glory but can choke plants.
Reply:I love Morning Glories. I don't have good luck growing them, though. A neighbor has those beautiful bright blue ones and they are just gorgeous in the sunlight.
Reply:They may look nice, but they're thugs - taking over any little bit of territory they can get their tendrils on.
Reply:They are one of my favorite flowers - they do produce a lot of seeds, making sure the species lives long into prosterity.. I've been collecting seeds this year - I probably have 1 1/2 cups of seeds - mostly purple, some white and blue. I think some may come back every year but mostly they just produce a lot of seeds. The trick is to cut them down before they go to seed - if you want to get rid of them, hopefully in a year or two you won't have any more coming up,
Reply:Morning glories are so pretty and so easy to grow and take care of. Its one of the best for a begining gardener. Some call it pesky and dont like it cause it can take over,but proper pruning will keep in under control. They are awesome over a trellis or fence. My mother in law had some beautiful white ones and I cant wait until spring so I can plant some seeds. They like alot of sunlight. They are so pretty in the morning when there is a slight dew on the grass and the birds are chirping and the hummingbirds are flying around. Thats my favorite thing to do in the mornings.Sit on my porch and look at the flowers and birds.
Reply:I adore morning glories and I just hope one day I have the problem everyone keeps talking about. I planted morning glories about 6 years ago and even though they always come back, they have not moved. They are still on the same fence I planted them next to. Anyhow, I would love it if they would just take over all my fences.
