Do different types of water affect plant growth? Which type of water grows a morning glory plant the fastest?

I need to know which type of water grows the plant morning glory(ipomoea amnicola) the fastest..rain water, tap water, distilled water, and mineral water.

Do different types of water affect plant growth? Which type of water grows a morning glory plant the fastest?
I don't know if anyone would know this without making an experiment to test all of these. Morning glories are really easy to grow and I bet they wouldn't care what type of water they had, as long as they have enough and reasonably good soil.

Is there a way to see if a Morning Glory seed has been chemically treated?

I bought 4 ounces of Morning Glory seeds and I am unsure if I bought chemically treated seeds. Is there a way to see if the seeds have been contaminated? I purchased them from www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com if anyone is familiar with their seeds.

Is there a way to see if a Morning Glory seed has been chemically treated?
Morning Glory seeds have to be chemically treated or they won't germinate. In the wild, they have to go through the intestines of birds or other animals before they will be able to germinate. In order to duplicate that process, it has to go through a chemical treatment.
Reply:Morning glory seeds that have been chemically treated will be coated with a powdery substance, usually pink which is an antifungal agent. If it is just dark brown or black, chances are that it is untreated.

In answer to the first responder to your question, morning glory seeds DO NOT have to be chemically treated in order to sprout. Seeds that have fallen to the ground from the previous season's vine will automatically sprout when the weather warms up. It DOES NOT need scarification - either physical or chemical by way of animal intestines in order to sprout.
Reply:As far as I know, there is no way to tell. If that site said they were organic or untreated, then that probably means they weren't treated with dyes or other chemicals. If seeds have been treated, there is no way to wash off the chemicals.

Does the cocoa shell mulch prevent flowers on morning glory vines?

my morning glory vine looks great but no flowers. The only differance this year is the addition of cocoa shell mulch.

Does the cocoa shell mulch prevent flowers on morning glory vines?
it is deffinately not the mulch. I would have to say that the cocoa mulch is useless as it washes away with rain, blows away with wind, and doesn't even smell very much.

It does have its place in the small sheltered perennial garden because it decomposes faster than bark does.

Ipomea species tend to need 6-8 hours of sun and like moist but well drained conditions. If it is not getting those condidtions it could have enough energy to get through the first year with flowers but not enough to come back the second with flowers.

Have you fertilized it? It could have depleted the soils phosphorus levels last year and need another shot to get it flowering again.
Reply:First, beware of that mulch, dogs find it delicious and it instantly kills them. As for the flowers, I'd say it was too cool and too dark.
Reply:was the mulch well rotted? if it was fresh the mulch will be taking nitrogen out of the soil to compose feed up the vines with some slow release fert
Reply:Idont know but it does kill dogs like chocolate

How can I get rid of wild morning glory or is this an immposibility?

I am working on a garden of native plants. all are doing great but I also have wild morning glory that I weed out everyday to prevent it from strangling everybody else. Any way to get rid of it?

How can I get rid of wild morning glory or is this an immposibility?
Not sure how much wild morning glory you currently have in your garden but... if it's among the plants you want to keep, you'll have to make a mixture of Roundup and water.... then use a narrow/thin paintbrush to apply this mix to the proper target and avoid killing your landscape plants. Make sure you apply as much of the herbicide solution to the leaves as you can to insure adequate wetting.

Here's another helpful hint; try mixing the Roundup and water WITH a foliar fertilizer (such as Miracle Gro). The Miracle Gro (fertilier) actually tricks the leaves (stomata) into accepting more of the solution than normal.

GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Try digging deeper to get the whole root out...or maybe spray weedkiller on it.
Reply:Follow these steps:

1. Pull all the large M.G. plants.

2. Squirt left over and new weeds with premixed Roundup spray. You can find this at any hardware store.

3. If you find that it is to difficult to spray the Roundup because other plants are to close use a piece of cardboard to protect other plants while you spray the weeds. Roundup can also be brushed on with a small paint brush.

In time you should be able to rid yourself of morning glory but it will take time, patients, and perseverance.
Reply:Roundup works best in these situations, spray it at the base.
Reply:When they die off you have to remove the vine and spray weed killer. Do this after everything else has died for the winter.
Reply:morning Glory's are one of Those plants just like ivy you have to kill them at the roots and make sure that the seeds remaining do not germinate you can try weed killers and digging them up but this may take several times they are not prone to grow in acidic soil try a weed killer that has less of a base ingredient listed first on the label. good luck
Reply:Morning glory roots can go as deep as 6 feet, We use a product in this state called Curtail, it is a broad leaf selective. I would call your local Soil extension Office, they will be able to tell you what is available and effective in your area. In Colorado it is one of the those weeds we all fight. The SOC will help you and give you all kinds of info, it is there job and they take weeds like morning glory( called bindweed here)

very seriously. You can not ever pull all the roots up you can stop it with the proper selective spray. There is also a mite that you Can get from the SCO that attacks and kills the bindweed. I have not used it but I hear it is very effective and environmentally friendly. You do have to battle it for a very long time the seeds can stay in the soil for many years.

Good luck

God Bless

Reply:Your wild morning glory is probably what is called bind weed. It vines all over the place with a tiny white morning glory like flower and is very hard to get rid of. If you try to pull them up you only get a very small piece and the majority of the root is left underground to multiply. The best way to get rid of them is with round out, being very careful not to get it on your other plants. It will go to the root and kill the plant.
Reply:Roundup!
Reply:I had this problem too....it was actually killing the tree it was climbing....I had to dig it up and then use root killer
Reply:Not only do the roots go deep (I've read up to ten feet), the seed can remain viable for several years. Try a combination of spraying with Roundup, then pulling a few days later. Don't even bother trying to get the roots when you pull, even if you just break them off, you will weaken the plant. You have to keep at it and if you live in a climate like we have here in Western Washington, you will probably never be completely rid of it.

What is this flower like a morning glory?

The difference between this plant and a morning glory plant is that the leaves on this are longer and narrower, and the notch of the leaf, where the stem attaches, is a U-shape instead of a V-shape.

The wild form of Morning Glorys are called bindweeds.

There are a few different species.

How do you get rid of Morning Glory?

I have a nasty problem with Morning Glory all over my garden/yard. It insinuates itself everywhere, and I can't plant veggies anymore, because the stuff is so hard to deal with. Anyone know any herbicide or other that does the trick?

Good luck . . . once its established it takes work, lots of work. Keep pulling, and don't let any flowers go to seed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How To Get Rid of Morning Glory?

Short of constantly ripping the stuff out, does anyone have a good (organic) sollution to this plant? There seems to be morning glory that grows in between my yard and the neighbours' yards. We all pull the stuff, but it just keeps coming back. If I miss one weekend of gardening, the stuff starts to strangle my azalias and blueberry bushes!

How To Get Rid of Morning Glory?
Do you get NPR? This sounds like an ideal question for Mike on You Bet Your Garden. (The website is http://www.whyy.org/91FM/ybyg/ - you can email questions or call.)

Problems with this plant are twofold - one, vine plant, two, self-sowing.

So, not only do you have to rip it out and kill the roots, you have to stop the seeds from spreading. This is probably not going to happen in one season, though.

Your basic strategy is to exhaust the plant by cutting the foliage back, keep flowers off of it so it can't seed, then cover the soil so everything there dies back. It will try and move on you! You've got the right idea, but yeah, it's exhausting.
Reply:only way is to move your azalias and blueberries. basically because you can't kill morning Glories manly because they are only anuals. but they produce so many seeds that its impossible to kill them all without them coming back. its a plant often used to piss off the nighbors and kill trees and stuff, my dad used it to kill my nighbors trees I didn't particulaly care for it but as soon as you see a bloom cut it off and cut the vines down you going to be doing it for years but if you stop it from blooming or growing at all eventually there won't be no seeds, but it might take a few years.
Reply:round up will kill it. If you don't want to use a poison. I have read vinegar will kills plants.
Reply:There is no organic way to get rid of moring glory vines. Weed spray is your only option.
Reply:Hi. Consider surrendering. I have about 900 ft of fence and it's absolutely inundated with this stuff. After years of trying EVERYTHING to make it go away i just gave up. Now, in the spring, i pull down last years 80 bushels of dead vines and just let it grow (cutting it off my sacred goose berry bush when necessary) and just let it have the fence. Honestly...it really looks a lot better then the fence AND it's attracting the now endangered wild honey bee.
Reply:Nope. You have two choices, Roundup or ripping them out. I'm fighting battles in places where I haven't planted morning glories for two years and there are still hundreds of them coming up each week.

Get 'em while they're small, they rip out easier.

Is there a tolerance factor to ingesting Morning Glory seeds?

The first time I had Morning Glory seeds (90 Heavenly Blues), I ate them on an empty stomach and chewed them well. I was pretty nauseous for a few hours. But once they kicked in, I had a great experience full of hallucinations and euphoria that gradually took about an hour to peak, and lasted roughly 3 hours. I still felt very weird afterwards, but slept it off. The next day I felt a little burnt out but fine.

Ten days later I had the seeds again, in the same manner, but this time I had 30 Heavenly Blues, and about 80 Pearly Gates. I got really sick for the whole day and could not think straight at all. It was very confusing and I had no sense of time. My trip did not peak, but varied from time to time over about 8 hours. The next day I had a fever and was very nauseous, had to stay in bed for most of the day. But I think it's all out of my system now.

I suspect there may be a tolerance factor to these seeds as I had slightly more the second time and experienced less intense effects.

Is there a tolerance factor to ingesting Morning Glory seeds?
This may or may not help you, because I do not know for certain if there is a tolerance factor, but I do know what may have caused your unpleasant second experience. If you purchased the seeds from a hardware store or garden shop, they most likely contain a chemical coating on the outside of the seed. While it is not necessarily harmful, it does cause nausea. The companies producing the seeds have done this as an effort to prevent ingestion of the seeds for recreational purposes.

The first time you ate the seeds, you may have been lucky and bought some without the chemical coating on them, or didnt ingest enough to cause unbearable nausea. The second time, the nausea could be from simply the quantity of seeds you ate, or they may have had the chemical coating whereas your others hadn't.

I doubt that there is a "tolerance" factor to the seeds. The active chemical responsible for the desired effects is LSA, very similar in composition to LSD, although a good deal milder. If you took the seeds on consecutive days, tolerance may be more of an issue.

More than anything, I'd say it has to do with frame of mind, contents of your stomach, and type of seeds (including chemical coating or lack thereof)

Hope this helped
Reply:I began to read this thinking I was going to get a solution to our morning glory problem in my back yeard. Those freaking flowers won't stop growing.

Why does my dog's eyes frequently has "morning glory"?

Morning glory is that sticky whitish discharge of a person's eyes when one wakes up in the morning.

Why does my dog's eyes frequently has "morning glory"?
We all have it- humans and dogs. If it annoys you so much just rub it off your dogs eyes. Try not to tough the eye ball though.
Reply:it's normal, just get a damp towel and wipe it off. But if it is real bad, ask your vet
Reply:It could be caused by allergies or dry eyes. One of my dogs has dry eyes and we have to put artificial tears in his eyes a couple of times a day. You could try that but if it doesn't help I would see a vet. Dogs can also get painful eye ulcers that will cause discharge.
Reply:i thought morning glory is when you wake up with an erection?!

the early morning gunk is because your eyes are constantly producing tears with contain a diluted amount of it. as you sleep, the water produced evaporates but the gunk does not, so it concentrates and leaves a residue.

If your dog produces allot it could be that its tear ducts are over active, they are might sense that the eyes need more help than normal. It could be an early sighn of blindness.

Check if you can see a glassy effect in the dogs eyes as this is another sign.
Reply:Dogs have two set of eye lids and they keep the dogs eyes protected and a dogs tears cleans it out and is washes into the corner of the eye , our tears do the same. What do your eyes do when you get something in one of them they water to get it out.

How do you filter morning glory seeds with the water and alcohol (gin, voka, etc) method?

I would like to know how to filter morning glory seeds with just water and alcohol to remove the undesirable side-effects? I cant find a web site that explains it in enough detail.

How do you filter morning glory seeds with the water and alcohol (gin, voka, etc) method?
Sounds like you are preparing a tincture.

1 ounce seeds to 16 ounces fluid. With that said, 25% of the fluid is going to be distilled water, which in this measurement would be appx. 4 ounces. The other 12 ounces fluid is vodka or everclear. These alcohols need to contain 95% alcohol for you to get the correct distilation properties.

Now in a glass jar, place the seeds (crush them), alcohol and water. Shake daily for 2 weeks. Then strain the fluid out with cheesecloth cupped over a glass jar.

You should bottle this tincture in a dark glass bottle and the self life is inebidable (no expiration).

For more information on making tinctures, purchase "The Complete Guide to Herbal Medicines" from borders for $7. In the front it gives complete instructions.

PS: You should never try tinctures on herbs without through research or practice with herbs that you know their constitutions or under a herbalist. If you are practicing to be an herbalist---YOU NEED THIS BOOK! Don't make anything without it. It will tell you want herbs can be used in this form and side effects and what drugs should not be used with certain herbs and ect.

Use caution, do your research, then act.

Well I guess it depend on where you are going?
Reply:morning glory seeds are not the best choice for household trips. the seeds you get from a store are coated in chemicals to keep funguses and bacterias from growing on them and not meant for injestion. if you harvested them you need to shell them as the black coats contain toxins that will strongly disagree with your stomach. shelling morning glory seeds is as you have proabably guessed not the most fun way to spend your next 2 days.

Oasis - (Whats The Story) morning glory? fav songs?
Hello:*****-Great opening track, especially sing hello, hello, it's good to be back.

Roll With It:****- This song is good. Good second track but not as good as the opening track.

Wonderwall:*****- Classic Oasis. Everyone on the planet knows how good this song it so I don't need to expand on it.

Don't Look Back in Anger:*****- Another Classic Oasis tune and one of my all time personal favorites.

Hey Now:***1/4- I don't hate this song but if you ask me what are my favorite Oasis songs this one doesn't come close.

Swamp Song (Interludes 1 %26amp; 2):**- This was just a clip and in the long run I wished they would have put the entire song instead because that was a ***** song with great guitar riffs.

Some Might Say:*****- Another classic and their first #1 single in England.

Cast No Shadows:*****- Another personal favorite of mine.

She's Electric:***- I always liked this one for the simplicity of it's lyrics and it's Beatlesque sound.

Morning Glory:*****- This song was just a great one to rock out to.

Champagne Supernova:*****- Classic song and at almost 7 minutes it was an awesome way to close out the album.

All in all I rate the whole album a ****1/2. Now looking back and listening to the b-sides that didn't make the album I would have included the whole Swamp song instead of 2 clips. I would have removed Hey Now and put in Acquiesce. I would have also included The Msterplan as well so the album would look like:

1. Hello

2. Acquiesce

3. Roll With It

4. Wonderwall

5. Don't Look Back in Anger

6. The Swamp Song (in its entirity)

7. Some Might Say

How do I collect Morning Glory seeds?

I need to get the seeds from my morning glory plants but I do not know how or what the seed pods look like.

How do I collect Morning Glory seeds?
Morning Glories won't start to seed until late Aug. - Sept. and they seed everywhere. Wherever there was a flower you will find a seed pod they look like small basketballs about the size to the eraser end of a pencil. Let them dry on the stem and then you can pick them. Inside the pod are all the seeds you can either leave them or break them open I don't think it really matters. You can also leave it till the spring when all the growth has died off before picking the pods. Hope this helps
Reply:you buy it from a salesman
Reply:Morning glory seedpods don't usually develop until early fall. Look at this site http://www.craftygardener.ca/infoglory.h... for pictures of seedpods and seeds.

I plant morning glories all over my property and last fall I collected a gallon jar of seeds. Morning glories will also self-seed (you will discover this next spring!).
Reply:You will see little brown/black berry like seeds after the vines die and winter sets in. You have to keep the ugly vines until then. Sorry 'bout that. :o)

I have one vine I will be collectiong from this fall too.

I need to know more about growing morning glory and moonflower?

I need to know more about growing moonflowers and morning glory. Should I buy then in packets/seeds or in pots? Are they perrenial and how do I plant them? Is it too late to plant them this summer season?I would love waking up seeing those morning glories and would love the scent the moonflower encompassed the evenings.

I need to know more about growing morning glory and moonflower?
I just moved from zone 5 and I can tell you from experience that morning glories like poor, well drained soil.I don't know about moon flowers though.

Don't fertilize morning glories after they are established or you will get a ton of leaves and no blossom. I have found that they don't do well in pots.

Prepare your seed bed by cleaning out the weeds and slightly tilling the soil. Make sure Morning glories have something to climb on like a trellis or they will rot just sitting on the ground. So after you till your soil, stick a trellis in it. Morning Glories have a hard seed pod so you will need to soak them overnight in water before planting. Just distribute the soaked seeds in the prepared bed and using the flat part of a hoe or the palm of your hand, push them in the ground. Keep the dirt moist until they are about 6" tall, after that allow the dirt to dry out before watering. Try getting pink and blue seeds and plant them together for a stunning display! I like to plant 4 o'clocks with morning glories...they can be planted just like the MG's.

Good luck!
Reply:it depends on where you live, but it's a little late to plant them outdoors. i would just get a pot. it will tell you how to plant and take care of them on the packet of seeds.

This should give you all the information you need for both
Reply:Morning glory is best started from seed in the spring after the frost date. It is not a perennial, except in very warm climates where it doesn't get below freezing during the winter. In Bermuda and other islands it is considered a weed because it never goes away and spreads like crazy.

I wouldn't plant it right now, as it may not overwinter in your zone (here in the south, seed comes up readily from last year's seed), so I would wait until next spring. Morning glory likes to climb things, so be prepared to give it a trellis or something else to climb. It's really easy to grow with seed.

I've never grown moonflower before, though I may do so in the future, so I can't offer any advice on it, except to wait till the spring to grow it from seed.
Reply:Don't know about moon flower, here is a link that should help. Morning glory can be a nightmare even in colder climates.

Visit your local nursery and consider other climbers like clematis, varieties of rose ramblers require v little to no care...

Drive around your neighborhood and see what others have climbing in their yards. Notice how much sunlight the plant gets. If you plant a clematis in a shady area, it will grow like crazy but won't flower for lack of light.

Check the gardenweb forums under vines or perennials; or better yet, start in your region of the country!

Good luck!
Reply:I would give it a try. Get a pack of seeds. If the plants bloom, each flower will dry into a little seed pod and you'll have hundreds of seeds for next season.

Does burpee put chemicals on their morning glory seeds?
I'm not sure if they do or not but i can tell you that what i did was just put my seeds in a bowl of water and a little soap and washed them. Then I crushed the seeds and put that into teabags. I then soaked that in water for a few hours and then took that liquid and put it into a water bottle. I gonna trip on it this weekend but my friend who's done it before told me to do it that way so good luck to you.

How to harvest morning glory seeds?

I recently planted a couple morning glory's about 1-2 months ago... one has bloomed a few flowers and the fine is climbing up a post... its about a foot long right now but the acutaul plant itself is small... only has about 4 heartshaped leaves. Anyways i was woundering how to collect and keep the seeds of this plant? whats the best way and where are they located on the plant?

How to harvest morning glory seeds?
Pull or clip the seed heads from the plant, holding a bowl or paper bag underneath (if you're saving more than one variety, mark the container to avoid mix-ups). Indoors, open the seed heads over newspaper, discarding the chaff (the seed coverings and other debris). Let the seeds dry on the newspaper in a cool, well-ventilated space for two to three weeks. (We've sometimes skipped this step, and most of our seeds sprouted anyway.)

Meanwhile, decorate your envelopes with photographs of the mature flowers, noting the flower's name and the year grown. Pour in the seeds, seal the envelopes and place them in a plastic container with a lid. Store your seeds in a cool, dry place like your refrigerator or the basement.
Reply:The seeds can simply be picked up off the ground. I have had some that I saved for 5 years in a plastic bag and they still grew when I planted them. They actually re-seed themselves very well and you'll have a bunch coming up around your plant without having to re-seed.
Reply:My mother has morning glory all over her yard. We help her "harvest the seeds" then throw them away because the vine has a tendency to take over everything!!!! And they attract bees.....

Trust me, you don't need to do anything to the plant. The seeds will fall off and it will reseed itself.
Reply:Morning glory seeds contain alkaloids and are very poisonous. The seeds form when the flower falls off. They're will be a small bulb on the flower stem with 6 -8 seeds in it.
Reply:When the flowers turn brown and dry up then pick the dried flower heads and put them in an envelope that you can seal . I then put the sealed envelope in a ziploc bag and put it in a nice cool dry area until spring.
Reply:The fridge is the best place to store your seeds. They need to be soaked

in a paper towel for a day or two before you plant them. I have had great

success with harvesting and replanting. It is a good way to save money

and it feels good to give Mother Nature a helping hand.
Reply:I'd tell you but first I want to know what you're using these seeds for. I suspect you're up to no good if you're wanting to harvest morning glory seeds.

Why is some morning glory considered a weed?

We have been unsuccessful getting ground cover to grow in our rock wall. Suddenly this morning glory is taking over, weaving in and out of the rocks, doing exactly what we want. Everyone says they are weeds. We think they look great. Is there a problem we are unaware of?

Why is some morning glory considered a weed?
this plant is well known as the noxious and extremely invasive weed commonly known as "bindweed" (Convolvulus arvensis -field bindweed, or Convolvulus sepium -hedge bindweed).

it's very prolific, spreads by rhisomes (underground roots) and will wrap around and climb anything that it encounters.

it produces luminous white flowers (some with shades of pink and purple) that are actually quite pretty when you take a good look at them. the flowers blooms last only one day.

if you love them, and they are "doing exactly what [you] want" then enjoy! just hope your neighbours love them just as much!

Reply:If the morning glory is doing what you want it to do, then leave it! I love morning glories and wish I had brought some with me the last time we moved. They can be controlled fairly easily, if need be, but otherwise are beautiful "weeds" when watered and allowed to climb.

When they start to die out this fall, you'll want to remove the dead vines and unless you are really careful, you'll have seeds all over your yard, so I would suggest bagging the dead plants in the area it's growing. I always saved a few seeds, just in case they came up early the next spring and we had a late freeze, I could just plant my seeds after the danger of a freeze was over.
Reply:I learned this a long time ago...

Definition: A weed is a plant growing where it is not wanted.

Obviously, if you like it there, it isn't a weed!

There!
Reply:Morning glory is an invasive species. It will choke out other plants. It spreads easily and is difficult to control. It sounds like you are getting what you need from such a plant, so don't worry about it. perfect
Reply:They are considered both a weed and a flower, depending who you are. Farmers don't like them, but some gardeners have them in their garden. If they are growing where you want them, let 'em grow.
Reply:It grows along the road and reseeds itself. Some think of it as a nuisance.
Reply:Weed is a relative term. If you are growing certain types of plants or crops for a certain purpose (i.e. profit, aesthetic value ) and another plant is competing with your crops for water, nutrients, space, and sunshine then that competing plant is a weed. If you enjoy looking at a certain plant and want to propagate it then it is not a weed, because it has aesthetic value for you.
Reply:You probably have "wild morning glory" or bindweed, which is not the same as the pretty morning glories on the seed packets. In my experience, morning glory climbs by curling around structures; bindweed just sticks. I have carefully planted morning glories all over my property, but I uproot the bindweed. But my definition of a weed is "a plant you don't want growing there". If you like 'em, keep 'em. Just keep them thinned out or they WILL take over.

When to Pick Morning Glory Seeds/Pods?

there are tons of morning glory growing and i was just wondern when do the pods apear with seeds or where do pods grow at on the plant.

When to Pick Morning Glory Seeds/Pods?
Wait until fall, after the flowers die off. They have a brown pod that is easy to pick off. If you have tons, then you'll definately get a lot of seeds. Be careful because sometimes morning glories tend to go crazy and over take everything in the area. Thats what happened to me.
Reply:After the bloom dries up there will be seeds underneath. Pick them in the fall.

Does anyone know how to get rid of morning glory?

I have a large garden and it is being overrun by morning glory. When I put the garden in I was healthy but since then I have developed fibromyalgia. I am limited in what I can now do. Last summer, I didn't do much and in back of our fence there is a green space that has morning glory and blackberries bushes. Because I didn't cut them back as I usually did they have encroached on the yard, both the morning glory and the blackberries grew through the fence and rooted where they touched the ground. So really I need help with both of these problem plants. Did I mention the ivy that is also finding its way into my garden?

Does anyone know how to get rid of morning glory?
All 3 of your problems can be eliminated by using "Brush-B-Gone" or "Brush Killer"...which contains the active ingredient called "TRICLOPYR". It is a selective herbicide that controls broadleaved plants without harming grassy types (including turf).

Triclopyr works very similar to Roundup by killing the roots after spraying the foliage. I've found it to do an excellent job on brush and vine species. When spraying, you should make sure not to spray when the temperatures exceed 80 degrees and to avoid any sprays to get onto ornamental plants and vegetables.

To achieve better results, try mixing a tablespoon of dishsoap into your sprayer AFTER mixing the Triclopyr and water. The dishsoap helps allow more of the mixture to stay on the leaves and the herbicide to move into the plants.

You should begin to see the morning glory, blackberries and ivy turning yellow/wilting 7 days after application.

I wish you the best in your battle against fibromyalgia.

Hope this information helps the problem in your backyard.

Reply:I assume that you are talking about Convolvulus..it is a really nasty weed that only appears in cultivation. It is unknown in the wild. I'm also guessing that maybe you live somewhere near the Pacific Northwest?.. morning glory and ivy and blackberries(himalayan?) are all difficult to control without using chemicals...With your fibromyalgia that may be your only option. good luck.
Reply:Pull the whole thing out. If you cannot. Then use bleach. Water the plant with bleach and it will be dead the following day.
Reply:yikes.... do you have anything in the garden that you want to keep? anything that will come back next year.. my suggestion is repot or replant everything that you want and then spray weed remover and dig all the dirt up destroying all roots... pull everything you want out and then till the whole area.. next year start over.. hopefully you will have gotten rid of everything you dont want.... i have to replant my morning glories every year :( if you dont want to get rid of them try adding more things for the morning glories to climb up on good luck!

Does anyone know how to get morning glory? seeds to put on the bottom of your foot for bursitis.Got from acupu

They are small seeds. You put one on the bottom of your foot where the bursitis pain is and take it off and throw it out in the morning. The acupuncturist called them morning glory seeds. I don't want to have to go back to there and pay $65 to the treatment plus the cost of the seeds. Can't find them online. They are supposed to be Chinese seeds for healing.

Does anyone know how to get morning glory? seeds to put on the bottom of your foot for bursitis.Got from acupu
They are available right now at any home and garden center that sells seeds. Ask the sales person. They are very popular, so they should know right away what you are talking about. Better yet, do you know anyone that grows them and keeps the seeds?

Sorry, if they're not real Morning Glory seeds, I don't know what they are.

How many morning glory seeds should i take?

how many morning glory seeds should i take for a good first time trip?

How many morning glory seeds should i take?
Well, I have tried Morning Glory for the first time last Friday. I'd say i ate roughly around 50 seeds for my first time. I probably should have taken more, but I'm a small person so I was somewhat weary. So i bought to packets of the stuff, and with about eating 50 seeds over about a 15 min period, after the effects set it i was just light headed and stumbling. But I am not suggesting that you do this until you do your research!!!!!!!!! Please I can't stress this enough, because people have different "trips" depending on their body type, and I am not sure if there is a lethal dosage for Morning Glory. So please if you want to try them find out the right dosage.

Are variated Morning Glory leaves normal? When will it bloom?

I was just wondering if morning glory leave are normally variated with green and yellow or are they screaming out to me for help? and how long till it blooms? the vines are growing well but I've yet to see flowers appear.

Are variated Morning Glory leaves normal? When will it bloom?
variated? do you mean two- toned? not usually as far as i know ( no varieties ive grown or read about) - they should be growing now in warm climates (i cant stop mine in SF bay area CA- i have to keep clipping to control their growth) in cooler climates i would suggest waiting for warmer sun and then they should reach the sky. Wtare moderately after they are 3 in and if foliage appears, but no flowers stop watering for a bit. Too much water may be why the plant has a light two toned affect... or it could be not enough water. Chances are likely that its the former as morning glorys are hardy take watering well and should be a breeze to grow---- are they in full sun? They need to be
Reply:he's right, the varigation is completely normal, and they should bloom every morning and close by the time it starts getting hot.
Reply:i had morning glories last yr called "tye dye"

the leaves were varegiated and the blooms were purple with white splashed on the blooms

no 2 were alike and i loved them

for regular old boring morning glories most have just green leaves but the newer colors/combinations seem to have a tendancy to have varegiated leaves

depending on when you planted them give them sometimes up to 2 mos before seeing flowers...at 1st you wont see very many but as the plant gets bigger they will start showing up...in the early morning move the leaves and look underneath for blooms...it always seems that the 1st few are hidden but once the plant is all over the place so will the blooms...once the heat hits them that is it for the bloom but the next day new ones will bloom
Reply:they are calling you get ready.
Reply:Don't water them too often. That makes the vines grow fast, but inhibits the flowers from blooming. You might be overwatering them.
Reply:I planted Morning Glory from seed in early March and I'm just now starting to get flowers. The leaves on mine are variegated as well so I don't think that's a problem. I'm getting more and more flowers every morning.

Has anyone ever planted Morning Glory seeds before?

I just started plating Morning Glory seeds. This is my first time doing it. It says your suppose to soak the seeds in warm water for 24 Hours? Is that really necessary? I germinated a few in the paper towl method and they are growing great.

Has anyone ever planted Morning Glory seeds before?
Just make sure they have a place to run up.I put mine in cinder blocks with trellis behind them.I loved the hummingbirds they encouraged.....
Reply:I guess if the paper towel is working go that way but, by soaking them they will grow faster I always soak mine and my fence is full of beautiful flowers.........you have to space them also, takes time but it is worth it ~~
Reply:Generally whenever you have a seed with a hard shell you should soak it for 24 hours. The paper towl method also works just as long as you keep it wet. If you can get them to grow by seed then stick to what you're doing. As long as they are sprouting you're doing great!
Reply:nope...when i was a teen i would grind em up and eat em though
Reply:We have planted it them ! and if you have succeeded it with the towel method good for you ! it's usually recommended that the seed should soak to speed the germination process .

Enjoy them , they come back every year ! We have dark purple ones!

Will Morning Glory climb on a solid wood fence like a wall?

I have a wooden fence but the pickets are flush against each other so there is no space between them. So this forms like a solid wall. Will Morning Glory climb up this or does it need more of a trellis? Thanks!

Will Morning Glory climb on a solid wood fence like a wall?
The morning glory needs something to wrap around. Since your fence is solid, you can tie strings to the top of the pickets and run them down to a nail in the ground a couple of inches away from the fence, so there is a little space between the string and the fence. The morning glories will eagerly climb up this "ladder."
Reply:they need to have something to attach too
Reply:I always Loved Morning Glorys. They would open wide and so pretty in the day and close up at night. Yes they will grow up your fence, as long as they have something to grasp onto it..
Reply:Morning Glory is a form of a weed(from the weed family) and it will grow anywhere even on your fence....can i suggest something more like an flowering ivy instead....the morning glory is hard to keep only in one spot and can take over your garden
Reply:Regarding youre morning glories. At the base of youre fence place small nail in. attach twine,or string to the nail pull to where ever you want youre glories to go. take another small nail and place at top of fence. wrap youre glories around twine not to tight wherever youre strings are youre glories will be. This is what I do and every year they climb the same string. hoped this helped. Good Luck. from indmiles@yahoo.com

What "morning glory" means ?. I think to know it but...?
Most people think about it as a flower, but it could have the slang meaning you suggest... most Americans call that "Morning Wood."
Reply:it has two answers..

1 its a flower

2 its a women that feels wonderful in the morning
Reply:Morning glory is a common name for over 1,000 species of flowering plants in the family Convolvulaceae, belonging to the following genera:

Calystegia

Convolvulus

Ipomoea

Merremia

Rivea

As the name implies, morning glory flowers, which are funnel-shaped, open in the morning, allowing them to be pollinated by hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other daytime insects and birds as well as Hawkmoth at dusk for longer blooming variants. The flower typically lasts for a single morning and dies in the afternoon. New flowers bloom each day. The flowers usually start to fade a couple of hours before the petals start showing visible curling. They prefer full sun throughout the day and mesic soils. In cultivation, most are treated as perennial plants in tropical areas and as annual plants in colder climates, but some species tolerate winter cold. Morning glories are a close relative of Moon flowers which open at night to be pollinated by moths.

Growing Morning Glory Indoors?

I'd like to grow some morning glory indoors but have heard they can become quite uncontrolable as they usually grow up fences etc. Well I have some seeds and was thinking of growing them out of a few pots in my bathroom and letting them go wild. Would this work?

Growing Morning Glory Indoors?
They don't seem to mind pots. But they do like *lots* of sun. If your bathroom is very bright, it might work.
Reply:I would sure give it a try.

I've searched the Whitepages and the internet but I can't seem to find any details for the Morning Glory stationary shop that's in Perth? It's a Korean stationary shop that sells a lot of cute items. There used be one in the city and one in Carousel shopping centre but I can't find either anymore. Does anyone know if they are still open or trading under a different name?

Taking Care of Morning Glory?

I'm growing morning glory and it's sprouted, but I don't know if I should do anything special to take care of it. I want it to be a healthy plant and I don't want it to die. Any tips?

Taking Care of Morning Glory?
Make sure you've planted after the danger of frost is gone. They like a sunny or partial shaded area,. They grow beautifully on a trellis or fence. The funny thing is i have had them for years. They were here when I bought my home and that was over 25 years ago,, and they still keep coming up in the same spot year after year.. I love seeing them. I do pull out thick weeds when they come up so the weeds don't strangle the flowers. I live where the soil can be hard to grow things and mine do well,, I would say make sure they're not in direct sunlight for too many hours,, that can burn them and make them brown. It seems though that they do pretty well on their own with just a minimum of care.
Reply:Thats true, Amy. But if they are fertilized you can get really sick! If anyone trys it make sure they are not fertilized, or eat the flowers you grow them without fertilizer! Probably better of not at all.......
Reply:If you eat the seeds you trip.

Trying to find Morning Glory seeds that arent chemically treated?

I need a store to find morning glory seed that are not chemicallt treated%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

Trying to find Morning Glory seeds that arent chemically treated?
I think they are chemically treated to prevent people from getting high on them because they will destroy your kidneys. If you wanted some that were not chemically treated you would probably have to go to an organic dealer or harvest them yourself from someone's yard. Morning glories make lots of seeds.

Reply:I think you are most likely going to make yourself sick. The best thing to do with morning glory seeds is plant them and enjoy the flowers.

There is a plant that LOOKS LIKE a morning glory, in that its flower is trumpet shaped, that is used as a hallucinogen. It works whether one eats it or smokes it. It can also cause death. Don't mess around with stuff you don't know. Consult a reliable field guide.

If you chew Morning Glory will you hallucinate?

Hey, I was wondering if chewing Morning Glory, The plants or leaves would make you hallucinate. I know that chewing the seeds will make you hallucinate but what about the leaves?

If you chew Morning Glory will you hallucinate?
Opium lettuce might have that effect, but take care to make sure that you have the correct plant, else you may poison your self to death. I believe that it is the milky sap inside the main stem which has a mildly hallucinogenic effect:

And if you live in the desert, there is always peyote buttons. Eat 3, vomit, take a short nap, then wake up and hallucinate. Or so I've read.:
