Whats the story with morning glory?

Why do men usually wake up with an erection? I no its something to do with hormones-but what? and why?

Whats the story with morning glory?
Many men think their penises are erect upon waking because of urine buildup in the bladder, but this is false. Morning erections are technically nighttime erections which happen during Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep (when most dreaming occurs), although men older than sixty years may have them during even non-REM sleep. Generally, we experience four intervals of REM sleep per night. These spontaneous woodies in the wee hours are caused by specific neuroreflexes that are stimulated during REM sleep.

Most guys have nocturnal erections throughout their lifetime, and their frequency, along with one's awareness of them, may vary. Nighttime/morning erections can be noticeably harder or stiffer than those had when awake. The penis can stay erect for up to two hours nightly, and not all men who have erections during the night wake up with one in the morning.
Reply:When my dreams are filled with you how can I not!! lol!!
Reply:ALL OF THESE ARE SO WRONG! The real reason is because there are two stages of sleeping. Rem (Rapid eye movement,) and non-rem aka regular sleep. When humans are in rem certain things happen to their body: they dream, their internal body temperature comes closer to the air temperature, and of course they become sexually aroused. So when a man wakes up, either interrupting rem or just finishing it, he will notice an erection: which is extremely embarrassing when your mother wakes you up. So now you know!
Reply:I'm sure I'd always been told it's because the bladder's full, and presses on the prostate gland, triggering an erection. The prostate gland is the male g-spot, but it's not located in a very convenient place!
Reply:It's often from a full bladder.
Reply:I dont know the real reason to be honest, but is not a "usual" thing. It is "always". :-)
Reply:When asleep.We fiddle about.
Reply:The body as it's highest level of testosterone
Reply:Just the way it is - make the most of it.
Reply:I don`t know but is true it always happens... might be because they don`t control it during their sleep...
Reply:I sometimes have to pee out of the bathroom top window instead of into the lavatory bowl but I thought it was just me..
Reply:it's a body's way of making sure everything is getting blood and workin' alright. The body tends to do it more at night since the person is resting and pulse and blood pressure are lower
Reply:yeah it annoys me how men always want sex in the morning when all you want is a kip
Reply:It has absolutely nothing to do with a full bladder or pressure on the prostate but has everything to do with REM sleep (as the fella above me pointed out). I often wake up having to pee real bad without morning wood and have woken up after a short nap with morning wood with no desire to pee,
Reply:Nocturnal Penile Tumescence.
